They are the true lords of darkness.

They are the true owners of silent nights.

Silence is their actual identity.

They are extremely silent.

They know best of the night’s scary silence best.

They know best of the endless deep of darkness.

They know best of the nature’s secrets.

They watch and protect the nature’s balance.

They also prevent from overpopulation of animals in the nature.

As if they would like to take us to the unknown.

As if they would like to be friends with us.

They know no bounds in craftiness and intelligence.

They have colorful and beautiful hair.

They have soft and attractive hair.

They appeal to us with their long tails.

They warm us with their bright tails.

They are the most wanted heroes of our dreams and stories.

They are the irreplacable ones in our dreams.

They also steal chickens from our sheltered pens.

They swallow ducks, geese and turkeys from our sheltered pens.

For this reason, they present us plenty of sleepless hours.

They watch an opportunity by hanging around our farms.

Thus, they show us the exciting aspect of life.

They also show us the cruel rules of nature.

They are the ones wagging tails at the beginning and finalchapters of all stories.

They are the winners at the beginning and final chapters of all stories.

They are the onesproviding us with the spirit of painting and writing.

They are the ones knowing the locations of our mysterious treasures buried underground.

As humans, we have shot them regardless of their beauty.

We slaughtered them one by one and intended to show our hate. Then, we produced bags, hats, scarves and furs from their skins. We also hanged their skins on the walls or floors. We even treated them as a mounted furniture in our homes.

Sometimes, we took pride in the number of foxes we have killed without hesitation. We made their lives miserable by organizing the hunting parties on behalf of our personal pleasures or hobbies.

Furthermore, we awarded ourselves with numerous medals against the number of foxes we have killed.

As we grew older, we told our grandchildren about our brutality and barbarism as a heroic epic. For our self-interests,we made every habitat unbearable for our fox friends.

We grudged a handful of love while we avoided understanding them and we refused to become friends with them by preferring simplicity. We never accepted their hearts or their worlds.

We neither managed to share our love with them nor we shared the possibilities of friendship. We never care them and we act like they don’t exist. We keep our food away from all animals during cold winter nights. We are even too lazy to put a pot of water near the doors of our homes. We can’t leave our junked food near the walls, parks or gardens. In short, we always prefer what is easy and simple.

On the top of it, we make every effort to keep them away from our farms, manors, castles, villages, cities or pens. In fact, we create a virtual enemy by establishing an empire of fear. Then, we get together and make several plans in order to eliminate this virtual enemy. We set numerous traps to protect few chickens, ducks or geese. We also hang the poisonous food in our homes and the trees in the vicinity with the purpose to ensure them to eat these food and die suddenly. Besides, we go hunting these beautiful foxes as a batallion of vengeance.

Because our beloved parents have failed to teach us what to do or how to act in this issue. Nobody told us that these beautiful foxes also maintain a life and they need love, friendship or attention just like us. Or, we just preferred to forget or ignore what we have learned. We intended to keep them away from the real world by locking in the stories as we didn’t want to face with the truth. We always escaped the truth by locking ourselves in a virtual world.

Their painful howls or screams are a cry of resistance. Their weird moods combined with the night becomes a prayer. By intervening to our deep sleeps, they tell us: “Oh, the people! Hear me, see me! As you are sleeping well and dreaming currently on the warm beds in your protected homes, we are struggling for life in a frozen, hungry and thirsty mood at this cold winter night.

Oh, the kind people! How long you will ignore us? How long you will avoid hearing our scream? How long you will continue to watch our deep pains?”

Nevertheless, their painful cries are left unanswered all the time. Their cries are forgotten between the ignorant acts of humanity. Accordingly, we just forget our humane characteristics such as compassion, mercy, pity, charity or conscience. We believe these characteristics only belong to the humanity.

Thus, we believe this world belongs only to us. In this perspective, our selfishness, self-interests and careless attitudes capture us slowly.

They just flow silently to the darkness of a nightdue to fear, concern or hunger. If they see a malevolent person or an attack against their habitat followed by the loss of their shelters, a creepy rush runs through their bodies. At that moment, a fox wishes a safe shelter in teary eyes from his sole guardian the warmhearted Lord Parapanu by calling his name in order to cease its fears and concerns. His good Lord Parapanu is the sole master and guardian for all foxes in this world.

In this point, this meaningful work called Shoreditch Park Stories is written to eliminate the people’s ignorance and negligence as well as to ensure the people to recall good old humanitarian values. By means of these stories, we may welcome several values or concepts to our lives such as love, friendship, fidelity, conscience, respect, charity, sharing, emotional or fatih unity, the love of nature, animals and humans. Furthermore, we may construct a better future. Because there is no other world and the fact that time is running out for all creatures.

One day, if you meet a fox walking alone in a park during a late night, don’t be afraid or disturbed since this fox would be one of the kind foxes mentioned in Veysel Baba’s stories. This fox could give various information on valuable treasures in the world of foxes forgotten or buried underground. Therefore, you could be a nice part of a secret, mystery or puzzle. You could also take a pen and start to write down as our Veysel Baba did.

In accordance with his decisions, Veysel Baba left home midnight and walked to the mysterious Shoreditch Park. The man was checking and observing the vicinity while he was talking to himself. At that moment, his only intention is to meet with the good fox that appeared suddenly and saved him from a sleep of death in the middle of this park as well as to present his gratitude. Because he owes the fox his life and wants to say thanks.

As the man was influenced by such thoughts, he just walked around the park for a while and checked every corner carefully by looking inside bushes. He just sat on a bench. The time was late and nobody was around. While the entire city was sleeping at that cold winter night, a man suffered from loneliness was waiting in the middle of this mysterious park.

Arrived to Shoreditch Park with the purpose to meet the unknown life saver fox and present a gift of food brought here in a backpack, Veysel Babafell on a bench in teared eyes by saying loudly: “O, my dearest friend! O, my kind savior! I came here at this night to meet you and present my food. Because I owe you my life and I need to thank you. Please don’t be scared. I won’t hurt you. I just want to be a friend and present my love to you. Please show yourself. Please don’t let me return home in a devastated mood.

Believe me, I’m so alone and desparate that I need friendship and love. I would like to share my eternal love with you and leave my deep loneliness.I came here to find the friendship that I have failed to have with humans. Please show yourself and respond to my sincere cries.”

Listened his cries silently from the bushes, the talking fox couldn’t know exactly what to do. It was forbidden to speak with any person. To do so, it was necessary to get permission from his Lord Parapanu. Intended to cease the man’s desparate situation and tearful cries, our kind friend has contacted with Lord Parapanu immediately through a magical frequency stone and informed him on current events. The fox also requested permission to speak with the man wishing to meet him.

As the main guardian of all foxes in this world, Lord Parapanu couldn’t be unconcerned about this request and told his good friend:

“O, kind Harsiye! O, warmhearted Harsiye! Long time ago, I assigned you the task to protect the Holy Ark.I also provided you with mystical skills such as immortality and the ability of talking to the people. And you completed all the tasks. You followed our rules and you never told anyone about the secrets given to you. Besides, it was such a great behavior to rescue the man whom you have spoken of before. You became a role model for your fox friends. For this reason, I would like to congratulate you once more.

O, dearest Harsiye! Let the people blame us for craftiness or theft. Let them to use every means possible to kill us, place traps, shout for revenge, organize hunting parties or produce scarves, hats, bags, souvenirs and carpets from our skins. Let them to pass over our bodies by laying our furs on the floor. Let them to take pride in the number of foxes killed without hesitation. However, you gave us a good lesson on humanity by becoming a role model for the evil ones and you made us proud.

O, decent Harsiye! By this example behavior, I allow you to meet and speak with the man.

However, in this point, Irequest a promise to keep the secrets related to Holy Ark that we still protect. If you fail in this task and tell the stated secrets to this man, then the gift of immortality shall be taken from you and given to another fellow fox. In other words, we shall include you in the caravan of mortals and give the task of protecting Holy Ark to another fellow fox.

O, kind Harsiye! Now leave and complete duly of this holy task assigned to you. May your luck be with you all the time. Let the bright days be with you.”

Talked to Lord Parapanu in its shelter near the walls of two-hundred year old St. John’s Hoxton Church,Harsiye, the talking fox also known as Silent Foot, has went to the mysterious Shoreditch Park immediately following Lord Parapanu’s permission. Because there was an exhausted and lonely man waiting him and intending to be friends.

A HAND TO LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP

Exhausted Veysel Baba slept for death in the middle of mysterious Shoreditch Park at a cold winter night has been rescued by a kind fox and taken to a hospital. He was in a new decision-making period. First of all, he decided to be involved in a self-criticism process by means of internal cleaning. Because this exhausted man’s feelings and thoughts became dirty.

Regardless that the man has tried to remember anything on the events occured in this park, he couldn’t succeed. Because several moments from that night were misty and unclear. For instance, there are some regretful, devotional and desparate words between the moments he was trying to remember.

There were apologies, confessions, defeats, surrenders, disappointments, forgettings, desolations, despisals, betrayals, tortures, pains, dark scenes, spiritual gaps, spiritual wounds, tears, unknowns and endless loneliness in the moments of that night.

There were cold winter nights, deep silence, cold breath of death together with afarewell to this world, this game, this stage and these dreams for an eternal journey.

There were childhood memories, previous experiences, good memories, fabulous days, a little mountain village, natural life, simple life, secluded life purified from sins, the women washing by the river, magnificent summer nights with many stories including The Arabian Nights, The Thousand and One Nights, Heidi, Little Match Girl, Khyber Castle and Basilisk. Everytime he says “Mom, I’m cold”, he was facing with her angel face of his beloved mother.

There was also a fox warming his body with itsfur and its long tail in the unclear moments the man was trying to remember. Does this fox really exist? Did this kind fox rescue his life? As he learned from the hospital officers, an ambulance was called immediately from a payphone near the park.

The ambulance officers told that they have encountered a fox in the scene. By means of this fox, they rescued the man about to freeze and took him to this hospital. There was a kind fox seemed like tales in the moments he was trying to remember and in the words of hospital officials. Does such a fox really exist? Did he really survive by means of a fox? If the words he heard at that night and the words of hospital officials are correct, then it means that he owe his life to this fox and this should definitely be returned.

Veysel Baba has decided to be involved in a criticism process as he was discharged from the hospital. He took a spiritual journey based on love and friendship. Because this exhausted man’s previous experiences including disappointments, traumas, tragedic defeats, fatal pains, betrayals, desolations, forgettings, relations based on self-interests, fake attitudes, sinful acts and evil desires have forced him to take such a decision. He didn’t want to give a place for regrets or spend his entire life for empty dreams. For instance, he would terminate his social relations or get involved in a spiritual search by seclusion. Only by this way, he would move to a spiritual life style based on love and friendship by escaping from the social relations based on self-interests. The necessary thing for him in such a journey was patience and difficulty since the books of history mention that patience, difficulty and sorrow exist per mile in the road to love.

As a great thinker, Socrates has mentioned“Take a journay to yourself. What does your heart emphasize? The conscious approach to this world starts by an internal journey” in order topoint out a spiritual journey required in several decision-making processes. By means of such journey based on feelings and self-criticism, a person starts to realize the rights and facts from a different perspective. A person would find his/her nature in one day by this journey. In other words, just like I am currently trying, a person would be converted to morality from a materialist idea. On this path, it is necessary to emphasize love, respect and fraternity. Eternal love, friendship and mutual respect appear on one side whereas a process of identifying fraternity and self-critisicm is on the other side. When a person isdriven to a dilemma, spiritual gap, deep desolation or new decision-making process, this person searches for a safe harbor. The deep and eternal desolations are the actual owners of our spiritual worlds. Because if a person actually wishes for spiritual satisfaction, then it would be necessary to adopt a life style filled with loneliness.

For a reasonable person involved in an internal journey to morality, loneliness should not matter. The people able to survive alone by getting used to loneliness will search for eternal happiness and create a heavenly world filled with love, friendship and peace.

Henrik Ibsen has mentioned “Most powerful people are usually alone” and continued “The most powerful person in the world is the one standing alone”.

On the other hand, Nietzsche presents an alternative approach by his words: “Loneliness is similar to a deep well. It is easy to throw rocks. But tell me, who could take these rocks at the bottom?”

Aldous Huxley intends to express that a mood named loneliness shall knock everyone’s door by his words: “Every incarnated soul is doomed to loneliness.”

Jean de la Bruyere has mentioned “The failure to stand alone is such a great misfortune” in order to describe how people search for loneliness in certain conditions.

Charles Bukowski defines loneliness as “There is so much loneliness in this world that you may observe it by the slow moves of hour and minute hands.”

Mark Twain points out that a problematic loneliness incident is caused by the person’s internal battles by his words: “The worse case of loneliness refers to the failure to have internal peace.”

Anton Pavlovic Cehov tells “Every place seems like a desert for the ones failing to have internal peace.”

Jean de la Fontaine states “Staying alone is better than spending time with the foolish ones.”

Goethe tells “Loneliness is just a phrase. Pronunciation is easy, but it is challenging to experience this phrase.”

Benjamin Disraeli states “We discover friendship during our lonely moments.”

Descartes tells “Loneliness is a peaceful fact without any offense or worry. The only thing making loneliness unbearable is the feeling of defeat.”

Alex Browning states “Reading is followed by learning. Nevertheless, loneliness stand as a school for intelligence.”

George Sand tells “An unloveable person is alone everywhere and everytime.”

Sidney Lovell states “Look closer to a thing that is not an artifact such as the mountains, stars or rivers. In this moment, you would realize patience and wisdom. Most importantly, you would see that we are not alone in this world” in order to emphasize a creator saving us from loneliness.

Epictetus tells “As the doors are closed and lights are turned off, don’t say that you are alone. You are not.”

After all these words, why the people should be afraid of loneliness? Why the peoplecouldn’t see the actual truth? Because the human being is alone even in the suffocating crowds. The people get lost in these crowds so much that they couldn’t differ reality from a dream. So, they try to interprete the incidents in their social circles. In such a mood, they try to find certain answers regarding the universe, creation, the nature’s secrets, the code transferred to all creatures, love, friendship, fraternity, morality, life and death.

As they fail to find the answers, they lock themselves in deep loneliness just like me. Therefore, in such a lonely ambient, a person slowly realizes the core of spirituality, self-criticism, conscience, pleasure, happiness, peace, salvation, patience, difficulty, charity, reliability, pain, sorrow, tear, hunger, poverty, labor exploitation, effort, theft, lie, sin, good deed, love and friendship. By this way, this person starts the construction of a world based on love. Because love is a magical touch and a best key for all the doors. Love is the very same of life and the reason for the existence of nature.

Samuel Smiles defines love as such: “Love destroys evil as well as to spread kindness. It forms the purest aspect of human nature by melting the hearts. Love is the greatest fact based on humanity.”

On the other hand, Paracelsus defines love as such: “The one knowing nothing would not feel love to anything. The one doing nothing would not realize anything. The one realizing nothing is only a man of straw. However, the one realizing everything would love, observe and recognize.”

Robert G. Ingersol tells “A palace without love is similar to an old hut. A small hut consisting of love is actually a huge palace for the spirit.”

Michael Dorris express love as such: “The love marks appearing in various phases of our lives are divided to devotion, attention, pleasure, concern, loyalty or sorrow. But the actual love coming from the heart doesn’t differ.”

Andre Gide tells “Love is not looking to each other’s eyes. It refers to looking to the same direction together.”

“The greatest joy after love is to confess love.”

William Shakespeare mentions “Pleasure grows up where we sow love.”

“The purpose is not to die on behalf of love, but to find a love to die for.”

“You tell that you like the rain, but you open your umbrella when it rains.

You tell that you like the sun, but you escape towards shadow when it is sunny.

You tell that you like the wind, but you close your windows when it is windy.

I am afraid of them. Because you say that you also like me.”

Sophokles states “I was born to share love, not hate.”

Dostoyevski states “Don’t search for logic in a place where love fails to exist.”

John Ruskin states “When love combines with skills, wait for a perfect work to appear.”

Ali Ibn Abu Talib states “Love gains strength by respecting the friends.”

Anatole France states “The human avoids evil only when he/she is in love.”

Erich Fromm states “Self-love exists in the ones having the ability to love the others.”

Leo Buscaglia tells “Love is a state of opening the arms. If you keep your arms closed for love, then you would see that nothing is left except of yourself” and continues “The ones wishing to receive the love given by them in the exact level, they would be very disappointed.Because love couldn’t be distributed equally.”

Wolfgang van Goethe tells “As a person looks around his vicinity, he learns how love could bring life. The crown of nature is love. It could be reached only by love. Love creates gaps between all creatures. But everything needs to be embraced. It is separated in order to unite everything.”

Albert Einstein states “All issues forming our thoughts in young ages are related to love. Then, our love becomes our thoughts.”

George Sand asks“Which pain is more noble and valuable than the pain caused by love?”

Spinoza states “Greater love brings greater pains.”

Buddha states “For the one with internal love, the entire world seems as a united family.”

Herman Hesse states“Keeping us happy is not a reason for the existence of love. To me, love also exists in pains to show us how strong we are.”

Friedrich Schiller states “Love brings unity whereas egoism brings loneliness to humanity.”

Empedocles states “Sometimes everything combines with each other by means of love. In another time, everything is separated due to hate.”

Constance Foster states “Love is an indestructible castle protecting us from the breakdowns caused by time.”

Mawlana states “The most evil person is the one who doesn’t love and who isn’t beloved.”

And you, Veysel Baba! After such words on love and morality, haven’t you realize the truth yet? Haven’t you eliminate the regrets? Would you maintain your mistakes? How long you will stay as a slave of cash or a toy of the entertainment world? How long you will remain as lost in this nightlife or a gear in this wheel of evil? How long you will continue to destroy families, steal people’s works, act as a warmonger, present plenty of blood, pain and poverty to the humanity or add new sins to the previous ones without shame only for money, fame, property or a mansion.

How long you will act as the follower of a so-called democracy, create new wars, conquer new lands, establish new colonies, organize new military coups, invent new gameson behalf of democracy or create a world of hell based on the lies? For this dark purpose, how long you will continue to kill the nature, cause climatic changes, ruin natural habitats, ignore animal massacre or hold our entire future under captivity?

Oh, Veysel Baba! How long you will stay as a part of this dirty scenario or ignore new disasters by simply watching the incidents? Time is running out rapidly. As our beautiful world is dragged to a disaster by the people deprived of love, a reasonable explanation or an excuse shouldn’t be available for staying away and ignoring everything. By means of warmhearted and kind people like us, this world will become a better place worth for living.

Trying to understand and adopt these messages one by one, exhausted Veysel Baba has taken a spiritual journey for himself at first side. Then, he has been involved in a self-criticism proceess and learned to wait with patience and live alone by searching for the heart. He analyzed his previous mistakes andlearned lessons from the past while he took several decisions and tried to understand the true love and friendship. He also decided to dedicate himself to new relations and friendships.

Veysel Baba waited for the night in order to find an alternative love or friendship excluding the humans. Because real friends are similar to the stars appearing at nights just like our friend Silent Foot. Good friends may not be seen everytime like the stars, but they appear somewhere like the mysterious Shoreditch Park and save Veysel Baba’s life dragged to a bitter end by showing up instantly at a night.

Experienced deceptions, betrayals, desolations and moral impacts due to the people, Veysel Baba shall exclude them from his life in the remaining years. Because he was exhausted and he didn’t want to experience once more of same deceptions or desolations in this exhausted mood. He left home and went to the mysterious Shoreditch Park with the hope to find and give his love to the kind friend whom he was trying to remember for a long time. Because his tired spirit needs a reliable friendship as it appears at nights just like the stars.

PURE HAPPINESS REACHED WITH PATIENCE

Click for Turkish

If a person decides to turn towards the spirit, to live in seclusion or to get involved in a spiritual cleaning phase after a certain age, then patience would be the only necessity. We all have minds, ideas, visions, analyzing skills, insticts, abilities to take relevant lessons from the mistakes whereas we all search for the good, right, justice, equality, charity, sacrifice, conscience, self-criticism, openness to criticisms, recall of past, respect to all ideas, resistance to the discrimination between races, genders, religions, sects and social classes.

However, in addition to these humanitarian values and characteristics, there is such a thing called impatience, restlessness, intolerance, jealousy, egoism, dissatisfaction, rivalry, materialism, selfishness, greed to conquer the world, passion for centralized management and an evil thought covering the entire world with fire.

                The distinguished person Epictetus tells:

“There is the fact of death, so why you would deceive others?

There is the fact of death, so why you would act like a master?

There is the fact of death, so why you would rule with justice?

There is the fact of death, so why you would act like a deity or a despot?

The faith will eventually present us the results of our sins. Everyone pays a price for the sins in both visible and invisible timeline. What goes around comes around.

All the people will bear the results of their sins and reap what they sow. The man realizing this approach would not get angry, feel offended, insult, despise, accuse, hate or hold a grudge against anyone.

The man realizing this approach would not be surprised against the problems. He would know pretty well that the physical or spiritual problems encountered are nothing but his sins.”

The entire history of humanity regards and writes how selfishness, ambition, passion, rivalry, restlessness, intolerance, greed, jealousy and egoism transformed the human being into a monument of sins or how they all made humanity impatient. Nevertheless, the people don’t know to take lessons from such incidents or they don’t have any intention in this way. Simplicity and restlessness are rooted in this thought as well as the human’s surrender to endless ambitions and passions.

On the other hand, understanding patience or waiting for the right moment with patience is such a great and honorable attitude promoting humanity. William Shakespeare intends to point out the patience is the greatest wealth for a human being by telling: “The impatient ones, how poor they are.” Leo Tolstoy mentions the patience and time are interconnected concepts with good harmony by telling: “Patience and time. They are my successful soldiers.” And he continues: “There is no greater force than patience and time since they bear everything.”

Pablo Neruda intends to point out the path to pure happiness crosses with patience by telling: “Only a passionate patience would bring us to the doors of a magnificent happiness.”On the other hand, Vauvenarques mentions “Patience is the art of hoping” in order to add an artistic approach to patience whereas Franz Kafka approaches from a different perspective by telling “A human being has two primary sins. The others arise from these two called impatience and laziness. The human is restricted from heaven due to impatience. The human fails to move away from the laziness.” Saint Augustinus intends to mention that only wise people would possess patience while the patience raises humanity slowly and brings to the gates of happiness by stating “Patience is a friend of wisdom”.

Walter Elliot tells “Patience is a long race, but not a single one. It consists of numerous short-term consequent races” in order to point out that patience is actually a combination of multiple efforts. James Howel intends to mention the patience fails to exist in all human beings by telling “Patience is a flower that would not grow up in every garden”. On the other hand, La Fontaine regards patience and time as the address of primary achievements by stating “Patience and time achieves more than the violence or hate”. Lao Tzu defines patience as such: “If you are patient in your works, then you would complete anything you get involved” while Helen Keller mentions“If there is only joy in this world, we would never be brave and patient”to indicate that happiness may block a person’s secret treasures. In this respect, Susanna Tamaro tells “Patience is the antidote of hurry” while Friedrich Schiller expresses patience very well by his words: “The owners of great achievements are the ones showing patience in doing small things precisely.”

Other good people leading this issue as follows:

Franklin P. Jones: “From the children, you may learn how patient you are.”

Stanislaw J. Lee: “Learning patience also requires patience.”

Bhartrihari: “Patience is a shiled whereas hate is the most brutal enemy.”

Buffon: “Intelligence is patience. Patience is a bitter plant but with tasteful fruits.”

Leigh Hunt: “When patience combines with kindness, power borns.”

François Rene de Chateaubriand: “The pain is not significant for the ones who could stand.”

Alexis Carrel: “Abide by yourself and be patient. Never immitate. Nobody would give peace, but yourself.”

Bernard de Saint Pierre: “Patience is the courage of morality.”

Benjamin Disraeli: “A person knowing very well of waiting could achieve everything.”

John Baptiste Moliere: “The trees grew behind time are the ones with best fruits.”

Andre Gide: “First virtue is patience.”

                J. J. Rousseau: “Patience is bitter, but it has tasteful fruits.”

Edmund Burke: “Our patience achieves more than our power.”

Nessac: “Patience is a virtue of mankind.”

Plautus: “The secret of patience is to deal with other things while waiting.”

Mack Ginnis: “An impatient person waits twice.”

Ali Ibn Abu Talib: “If you ask me about myself, I resist to all events of time with patience.”

Mawlana Jalaluddin-i Rumi: “Patience is a poison at first side. It would become a honey if you take as a habit.”

“All the good things come after patience.”

“I make patience a ladder for the place I will climb.”

“A patient bird flies better than the others.”

“Hurrying ruins many things. You should do the right thing slowly but reliably. Remember that Allah brings maturity to a person slowly in forty years.”

“If the doors knocked are opened immediately, the level of hope, patience and desire would not be realized.”

“A purpose could be achieved with patience, not with hurry! Be patient, Allah knows the right better.”

“Be patient, so your feelings to be deep and eternal. Be patient, so everything fits your desires.”

“If all the things confront you and drive you to an unbearable point, don’t give up! Because this point is where the destiny would change.”

His Holiness Mawlana, the sultan of hearts, seems like describing my current situation and addressing to me by his last words. Everything pushed me so far that I would nearly surrender by giving up the entire life. Accordingly, I decided to sleep for a bitter end with these thoughts in a park. But as I have been saved and taken to a hospital by an unknown fox during a cold winter night, I decided to be involved in a self-criticism process. Because this moment was the point of change in my destiny and it was necessary for me to take a new direction in my life. First, I tried to move away from my old habits one by one with the purpose to reach a spiritual satisfaction and understand the main reason of life. In order to do so, I locked myself in home and decided to continue my life in seclusion. In this point, waiting with patience was necessary.

It is necessary to be patient against pains, worries and sorrows since they occur to examine and test the people for a spiritual satisfaction, not for depressions. The pains are not eternal or they won’t remain forever. In painful moments, it is not convenient for us to lose hope and prefer the simple and cheap purposes by turning to wrong directions. Because there is a light by the end of a night. Salvation and happiness exist by the end of a light as long as we show the necessary patience. To illustrate, His Holiness Ayyub’s patience is mentioned in many religious books and faith organizations. Reflecting this instance here as a brief story, it begins as follows:

Patience of His Holiness Ayyub

His Holiness Ayyub’s business was running perfectly until the consequent disease occured in his animals. In a short while, Ayyub’s livestock was dead except of a skinny cow and a black goat. The people were curious about Ayyub’s attitude and asked him:

                “What’s going on?”

Prophet Ayyub replied without any compromise in his high level of spirituality:

“Allah brought them to me. Everything belongs to Him, right?”

Prophet Ayyub lost his entire livestock, not his patience. They say the sorrows occur consecutively together with the family and relatives. Ayyub received another painful news while doing something else outside. His home collapsed due to an earthquake and his children were buried in the wreckage. His wife was the only survivor. With bloody tears in his eyes due to the grief of losing his children, Prophet Ayyub told “patience”.

Prophet Ayyub lost his children, not his patience. The troubles were not finished yet. Several wounds appeared on Ayyub’s body. Small carbuncles grew day by day and spread all around his body. Regardless that Prophet Ayyub has visited the best physicians or taken most effective drugs, nothing has gone well. The wounds on his wody were even getting worse. His illness grew more and more. Finally, his wounds prevented him from working and made him broke. His wife was taking care of himself and earning for the family.

Prophet Ayyub’s wounds have gone worse. Nobody would like to get closer as his disease can be contagious.Prophet Ayyub was alone with his pains. But he continued to pray and wish patience from Allah even under this condition. After a while, he lost his energy to move his body or his mouth. To sum up, all kinds of distress and pain happened to him. However, as in the wealthy days of past, he neither walked away from Allah nor he lost his confidence and loyalty. His Holiness Ayyub has passed this test successfuly and become a role model for his social circle.

Prophet Ayyub lost his health, not his patience.

At the time as his pains were intensified, he prayed:

“O, Lord! You know my current condition. I am such a sick person that I could not even recall your name! O, Healer! I am in need of your cure.”

Mighty Allah was pleased with his servant and accepted all the prayers. Allah raised his level in His presence. He revealed:

“Stamp on the floor!” Prophet Ayyub raised his foot and stamped slowly. A clear water appeared on the floor. Prophet Ayyub cleaned his wounds with this water. His wounds disappeared in a short while. As he drank this water, his internal pains were also healed. Prophet Ayyub recovered and earned his wealth back rapidly. Thus, he never forgot Allah in wealthy times nor he reacted against Allah during his illness. This warmhearted Prophet Ayyub took a place in history as a loyal and patient servant of Allah.

There is also a good expression on patience as the pot of patience overflows. The story is as follows:

There was a wealthy man in a country. When this man died in a young age, his heritage passed to his wife and little daughter. But the man’s wife also died after a year and the daughter’s uncle has become the guardian of little girl. Her uncle, aunt and uncle’s son were spending the heritage and treating the girl like a servant.

Suffered from their acts and insults while performing their requests and even beaten up, the girl couldn’t manage to tell her situation to anyone. They were assigning hard works to her such as laundery, dirty dishes orhouse cleaning in order to ensure that she is not talking to anyone. She was even scared by being beaten up every day.

This warmhearted little girl crying until late hours at nights in a tiny garret has seen Prophet Ayyub in her dream. Prophet Ayyub listened this girl’s troubles in the dream and gave solace by embracing her. He advised patience to her and brought a pot. He said:

“Look my child, keep this pot in a secret place. Say your prayers everyday and puff this pot by wishing patience. Tell your troubles to this pot. Collect your tears in this pot. One day, this pot will overflow andyour suffering period will be over.”

This warmhearted girl woke up in an early morning hour and recalled that old man from her dream. Then, she saw something as she opened the wardrobe. The pot given by Prophet Ayyub in her dream was there. She was pleased and surprised. She believed that she should not tell this secret to anyone. She just took the pot quietly.

After months, our warmhearted girl was going to her room and she was opening the cabinet secretly twice or three times in a day.She was kissing the pot of patience and telling her troubles all the time. She was also shedding tears inside this pot and finding solace. Then, she saw that her tears inside the pot increased to overflow the pot. The girl asked herself what would come next. As she was thinking of all the things going on, the uncle shouted her name. This warmhearted girl feared so much at that moment. She put this pot to the cabinet and ran downstairs.

The entire family was going to a vacation by a ferry at that day. They left this little girl to watch home with strict instructions. But the ferry sunk in the middle of sea due to a heavy storm. This little girl has become the owner of home inherited from her father. The phrase “the pot of patience overflows” referring to the loss of patience is told by this way. For the stated reasons, as Veysel Baba from Dersim, I have been secluded in the home and chosen patience and spirituality as my guides since the patience refers to pain followed by a sweet fruit.
